From Local Mats to the UFC: Inside India’s Premier MMA Pipeline

For decades, combat sports in India have existed in unorganised fragmented segments. Combat sports seemed to be only restricted to wrestling and even this age old sport did not have any structured learning. Akhadas used to train people, who went to international arenas, but the fragmentation and low monetary support remained one of the biggest problems. Fast forward to today, Indian fighters are stepping into MMA and other combat sports are also gaining traction in the country. Crosstrian Fight Club is India’s first national MMA franchise. Working on the rich but underdeveloped MMA arena of India, we are creating a world class ecosystem for players to go to the international stage fully prepared. This effort includes, but is not limited to, integrating international sports science, applying sparring techniques and providing coaching for multiple combat sports like Muay Thai, Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, Boxing etc.

Road to UFC

Anshul Jubli secured his first UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) contract and created history for India. He trained under Siddhart Singh, the founder of Crosstrain, for seven years and his first contract was a direct result of the structured training & support provided by Siddhart. Crosstrain has since created a roadmap of standards, techniques, and strategies for the next generation fighters. The international arena feels much closer now ever since Crosstrain has brought ADCC (Abu Dhabi Combat Club) and AJP (Abu Dhabi Jiu-Jitsu Pro) to India. In economics, it is said that the market becomes more efficient with competition. Similarly, sportspeople thrive in a competitive environment and these tournaments being brought to India will lead to a direct increase in the focus on combat sports, subsequently giving players a unique experience and a plethora of opportunities.

Why crosstrain?

Crosstrain’s founder, Siddharth Singh, is India’s first BBJ black belt and the mentor of India’s first UFC contractee. Our founder’s zeal to uphold the integrity of the sport all the while opening opportunities for upcoming talent is paving the way to build a structured sector of martial arts. He himself has navigated his way through an unconventional and extremely tedious path and so is now using that experience to make the combat sports more welcoming, safe, and accessible nationwide.

Taking the Founder off the Mat

Setting up a new gym may sound like a good idea but why stop there? Open a MMA franchise with crosstrain and you might give India its next UFC contractee. Through crosstrain you can help me people build their lives with sports. Our founder will share his story of creating a business from scratch and how to balance authenticity with brand building. Partners will get high level guidance for facility planning, layouts, structured combat sports programs and training methodologies. You will also get support for academy operations, marketing and business guidance to scale up your franchise. Being a partner with crosstrain opens up opportunities to be a part of the larger combat sports community. Crosstrain helps the partner to build a business end to end. We at crosstrain believe in setting up a benchmark of what a truly systemised gym looks like.
